Contracts for Difference for Low Carbon Electricity Generation: consultation on proposed amendments to the scheme

Closed 15 Mar 2022

Opened 4 Feb 2022

Overview

A rapid and sustainable scale-up of low carbon deployment is needed to meet the Net Zero agenda. The Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme is fundamental to achieving this goal, supporting low cost and low carbon electricity generation.

The consultation introduces the first round of rapid changes to the existing regulatory and administrative framework surrounding CfDs in preparation for Allocation Round 5, in particular on Supply Chain Plan process, and regulatory changes to the Non-Delivery Disincentive, and the Target Commissioning Window Start Date in relation to flexible bids.

Our aim is to gather views on making the CfD more forward looking and fit for delivering the scale and pace of the government's decarbonisation commitments.
